Halton Waste Management Site

Each year during Compost Give Away, Halton Region offers compost to Halton residents free of charge.
Residents will be permitted to take up to seven (7) garbage bags (or equivalent) of compost per household. Residents must bring their own bags and shovel. Residents are responsible for shoveling and bagging their own compost.

During the Compost Give Away, Halton Region coordinates a food drive to support food banks within the community. Residents are encouraged to make a donation of non-perishable food items or cash. Your donations make a difference!

During the 2006 spring and fall Compost Give Away events 6,689 residents came to the Halton Waste Management site and picked up approximately 3,000 tonnes of compost. In 2006, residents donated 11,000 kilograms of food and $12,650 to local food banks as part of Compost Give Away.

The leaf and yard waste collected through the Region's yard waste collection program is taken to the Halton Waste Management Site and turned into high quality compost and a portion is offered back to Halton's residents.
