Giant Pumpkin Winner found
at PEI's Central Compost Facility

ADI International (PEI) Inc. declared winner
of COMPOST GIANTS, The Great Pumpkin Growing Contest

A 161 kilogram pumpkin, grown in compost by the staff of ADI International (PEI) Inc. at the Central Compost Facility in Brookfield, PEI, has weighed in as the winner of the Annual Compost Giants, The Great Pumpkin Growing Contest. National bragging rights as well as a $500 cheque destined for a local gardening initiative were bestowed upon the growing team by the contest's organizers led by The Composting Council of Canada with support from Miller Composting, All Treat Farms, Procter & Gamble and Visions of Utopia.

"We are totally thrilled to be this year's winner," said Chris Snively, Facility Manager, ADI International (PEI) Inc. "The combination of our attentive staff, good weather and lots of compost were the key elements for our success."

Now in its 5th year, Compost Giants, The Great Pumpkin Growing Contest, brings out the best of competition amongst composting facilities across the country. Over 16 entries this year yielded pumpkins of all shapes and sizes as well as stories of fun and experiences that make contestants say "we're going to win next year."

Congratulations on their weighty success are also extended to the City of Barrie (140 kilograms) and Westmorland-Albert Solid Waste Corporation (107 kilograms).

The 161 kilogram pumpkin grown at the Brookfield, PEI Central Compost Facility is the national winner of this year's Compost Giants: The Great Pumpkin Growing Contest. Staff at the facility prepared a garden bed of compost, produced from the Island's residential and commercial organic residuals, for the raising of this year's national winner.
